Corn Husk Monarch Butterfly

This Butterfly corn husk doll was made with beautifully hand painted husks in shades of orange, red, yellow, black, and white watercolors. She is carefully pinned onto a handmade velvet backing and a square 5" x 5" frame.  

I created this butterfly to honor the Monarch butterflies that migrate to Mexico in the fall, just in time for Dia de los Muertos. My corn husk art only exists because of the people who cultivated this lovely crop and practiced this art form. This is my way of respecting them.
